The company, headquartered in Seminole, provides alternative options for energy customers in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. A recent expansion into Ohio and continued growth is prompting the company to expand its workforce of inside sale representatives, a press release said.

The company is focused heavily on hiring military veterans, the press release said.

American Power & Gas was the No. 1 company on the Tampa Bay Business Journal‘s Fast 50 List for 2016, with 466.9 percent revenue growth from 2013 to 2015. Revenue in 2015 was $189.93 million.

Tom Cummins, CEO, told TBBJ that the company has found success in tapping into social consciousness about the environment.

“Our company is very purpose-driven,” Cummins said. “Our purpose is to get out there, one home at a time, one business at a time, and start switching society from a fossil fuel-based energy consumer to a natural one.”

As of July, the company had about 300 employees, with 180 of them employed locally. All the new jobs will be at the Seminole headquarters, a spokesman said. Sales representatives get a salary and no capped commissions, along with full benefits, and the company has a full-scale training program for new hires, the press release said.
