NEW PLAYER ENTERING THE ENERGY GAME IN NEW JERSEY

new jersy city

NEW JERSEY – Customers looking to save money on utility bills do not have to look any further in the New Jersey markets. American Power & Gas has become a large player in the energy industry including the state of New Jersey, providing residents the chance to save money with alternative energy and gas options.

They recently launched an alternative energy option for customers of Jersey Central Power & Light and Public Service Enterprise Group in New Jersey.

Providers like American Power & Gas will be offering competitive variable pricing, a rate which changes on a monthly basis with the market value of energy, in the New Jersey area.

“It is a good thing to have variable rates because customers end up paying closer to the cost of energy in the open commodities market. With fixed rates, customers at times, find themselves saving for a couple of months but when the rates go down, they are stuck paying a higher fixed rate,” explained Andrea d’Agostini, vice president of marketing and public relations.

New Jersey residents will have access to standard energy and green energy. Those who prefer environmentally friendly options, such as wind generated energy, will find that American Power & Gas’ green energy program called, The Green Effect, provides a solution.

wind-turbines17“At American Power and Gas we strive to offer the best product on the market to our customers,” said d’Agostini. “We are more than an energy company. Our team is focused and dedicated on helping the planet through our corporate responsibility efforts.”

American Power & Gas is among the larger players in the renewable energy resource market and will be ensuring different options of energy will be presented to all potential clients in the New Jersey market place. Reaching customers to provide the best possible options is a part of what they strive to accomplish in their daily routines.

American Power & Gas is planning to attend future events focusing on green energy campaigns in the greater New Jersey area.  They will also be taking part in a large event focusing on mentoring small businesses owned by veterans, minorities and service disabled veterans, showing how taking part in energy deregulation may benefit the growth of their business.

How cities Can Reduce Energy Consumption

American Power and Gas: One of the primary characteristics of cities is population density. The amount of people living per square mile is much greater in urban areas. This is because cities are major centers of commerce and industry. They are the home base for many domestic and international companies.

High concentrations of jobs in cities attract even more people. Many of these folks commute from their homes outside the city to their places of employment. Between the power required to operate city businesses and residences, and the fuel needed for public transportation and vehicles used to get around, energy consumption levels in cities are very high. It is very important that cities start to cut back. Below are 6 ways in which they can do it.

Bicycle Lanes and Sharing

When cities invest in protected bicycle lanes on the roads, people will feel safer riding their bikes in lieu of driving. Cities can also offer bike sharing services. Citi Bike in New York City or Biketown in Portland, Oregon enable people to pay for and temporarily use a local bike. Together, these changes reduce car density on the road, and, in turn, decrease energy consumption.

Public Transit

Public Transit

Arguably one of the more costly and complex solutions to reduce energy consumption in cities is by offering and maintaining a variety of public transportation options. This should dissuade people from driving. Bus, subway or rail lines facilitate better and faster commutes. They simultaneously diminish the reliance on cars and, in effect, the reliance on gasoline.

Hybrid Cars

Since some cities, such as Los Angeles, are more reliant on driving than others. Offering higher and more incentivizing tax breaks to individuals who choose to drive hybrid or electric cars encourages its citizens be more energy conscious. To further reward these drivers, they can encourage certain establishments to offer designated, premium parking spaces for those vehicles in particular.

Green Space

Plants and trees reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the air by utilizing energy from the sun. Creating concentrated pockets of green space throughout a city in the form of parks, playgrounds, urban farms, and open spaces provide a better quality of life for city dwellers. In addition, they will better the atmosphere by cooling the surrounding air, offsetting carbon dioxide.

Solar Panels

Skyscrapers and massive buildings are staples of urban life. By installing solar panels, which absorb light from the sun, on even some of these structures, the city would be able to tap into free energy in the form of generating electricity or heating during daytime hours. This would make the best use of an enormous and pre-existing surface area. It will also cut back on the amount of fossil fuel people use.

Waste Management

Water Conservation

Cities are overflowing with people. As a result, the amount of garbage produced daily is extremely overwhelming. The management and disposal are not always the most efficient. Small efforts can better eliminate waste. One of these efforts is to outlaw plastic bag distribution in stores since they do not decompose. Also, if more opportunities existed for people to recycle, fewer recyclable materials would arrive in landfills and could, instead, be repurposed.

Water Conservation

More people equates to more water consumption. Therefore, there is more water waste. Cities can offer energy-efficient programs. They can help people purchase water-saving devices for their homes. They can also incentivize them to do so with tax breaks. There are low-flow faucets, toilets, and shower heads. There are also water saving dishwashers and washing machines. These appliances use significantly less water than older, more outdated models.

There has been a drastic climate change that has occurred over the past century. It is due to carbon dioxide emissions and diminishes natural resources.  It is imperative that populous regions like cities begin to reduce their consumption of energy.

Offering an array of public transportation options, provide bike sharing services and delineate bike lanes on the roads. They can incentivize drivers of hybrid and electric cars. They can create sustainable green spaces, and install solar panels on the tallest buildings. These things will all reduce waste and conserve water. Although local governments are responsible for implementing these tactics, it is ultimately up to the people to make sure they follow it.

Cause And Effect of Climate Change

American Power and Gas: Climate change is real, and it is really something serious that people downplay a whole lot. The problem is that most people don’t really understand what it really is, and what causes it. The truth is, the climate is changing each and every day. There are many different problems that are leading to our climate change, some of them having to do with the Greenhouse Effect, and other changes are occurring due to human activity and solar irradiance. The earth is becoming hotter, whether we want to admit it or not. Here is what is happening.

Causes of Climate Change

Man-made Factors
The Greenhouse Effect

First, we need to take a closer look at the Greenhouse Effect and gain a better understanding of it. When you do this, you will find that this is one of the main causes of the climate changes that are taking place currently. The warming of our atmosphere is actually happening because the atmosphere is continuing to trap the heat that radiates from the earth and traps it between earth and space. There are gases that can play a part in the greenhouse effect, and most of these gases will actually block the heat. This is what happens to force the climate change, and this is the part that we can’t do that much about- other than going green.

Gases that Play a Part in Climate Change

Here are a few of the gases that can play a part in climate change.  First, you will find water vapor. This is the most abundant gas that plays a part in the Greenhouse Effect. It increases because the earth is getting warmer, and it also makes more clouds and precipitation.

Natural Factors

Volcanic Eruptions
Ocean Currents
Solar Radiations
Earth Orbital Changes

Effects of Climate Change

Climate change can really have a lot of negative consequences. It is important to do something about it to help decrease the amount of change that occurs and make it not happen so fast. At some point, the earth will be too hot for people to live comfortably if we don’t make some changes. It is already having and impact on the plant and animal life, and if you really don’t want to see it get much worse- it is time to go green.

Loss of Wildlife Species
Rise in Sea Level
